Lionel 'teaching' Cycling Performance

Our Head Coach Lionel Reynaud was last 12th of September in Paris to present cycling training and performance optimisation process to chiropracticians.

Debrief with him and next steps outlook

Lionel you were in Paris to speak with chiropracticians about cycling during more than 2 hours. How do you feel after this long chat ?

Well, I feel really great we spent a little less than 3 hours and the presentation was really interactive. I really enjoyed to be a ‘Teacher’ during this slot. I would like to thanks all chiropracticians for their positive behaviour during this course.

Did the European chiropractic Institute asked you to present specific topics ?

No, I was contacted by an IFEC teacher to present modern training. I was totally free to build my presentation.
My first goal was to build a useful course for them.
As they meet riders with specific pathology, I decided to present cycling globally and bike fitting. At the end of this one hour module they were able to make bike fitting diagnosis based on rider pain.
The 2nd half was a training workshop with all the training basics and specific work on training plan to criticise.
In fact I answered wrong to your question IFEC wanted me to present modern cycling (of course) and my cycling path as I’m little strange French Engineer British Cycling Coach...

Would you be interested in another such event ?

Yes definitely, that was really interesting and exciting. I was surprised by the feedback I received after the course as I was thinking it could be boring for non cycling fans.
My next important milestone in mid-November in Coventry in POWER PEDAL conference; I still need to improve my pronunciation and my English word flow as I want to be really well understood by ABCC community.

What would be your topic during next ABCC annual conference ?

My slides are not frozen yet but we’ll certainly speak about training, power and doping prevention; I will present too what I’m calling Biomechanics passport which ensure me good performance follow up.

What are your plans for forthcoming weeks ?

2010 season will finish soon and I will try to rest a little . I finish this season tired but proud of 2010 achievements.
RACE CLEAN® has been well launched, one of our riders will be pro rider next season and Romain Lemarchand confirmed his serious job joining Ag2r team
On the other side I can say2010 was frustrating as I didn’t success to find a partner to convert Race Clean® at Pro Tour level . I will try to do my best next year on this subject but differently.
I hope too to have time to ride my bike that could appear stupid but that’s important for me.
Nevertheless, we are working on 2011 preparation since end of August for Pro Riders and Track riders. Elite amateur are gently ending their season.

2010 was a mediatic year for you, we heard you on National Swiss Radio, French newspaper, British Cycle Coaching Journal and cycling websites.

Indeed all occurred this year. I’m still happy to write for British Cycling Coaches for other medias; I tried to reply to their solicitations.

Would you be interested in joining Pro Team ?

I would prefer to build a new one but this question has to be considered.
For the moment, I have some contacts and the proposals received are (for the moment) are not very clear. If I take the decision to join a team, it will be to develop a complete project based on doping prevention and continuous improvement.

We suppose you can’t communicate about the name of these teams.

I could but I don’t want
As reminder, my focus is and will remain RACE CLEAN® development.
I don’t want to coach a Team to the detriment of my riders.
